Shock Absorption of a Gully in Explosive Earthquake
Abstract:By digging a gully beside an explosive point and measuring thevibration velocity of medium at the both sides of the gully, the authors give a description of the mechanism of shock absorption of the gully. A conclusion was drawn that digging a gully between the explosive point and buildings (or structures, slopes, etc.) is effective and necessary for the reduction of vibration velocity at the medium point and the alleviation of explosive earthquake damage.
