Abstract:Objective To investigate and analyze the current status of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) regarding medical adhesive-related skin injury (MARSI) among nurses in the radiotherapy department, and to explore the influencing factors of related cognitive levels, providing a basis for strengthening relevant management. Methods A self-made questionnaire was used for general situation investigation, and the KAP questionnaire on MARSI was developed based on the International Consensus on Best Practices for Preventing Medical Adhesive-Related Skin Injury. A survey was conducted among nurses in the radiotherapy departments of comprehensive hospitals, and statistical analysis was performed on the survey data. Results A total of 140 questionnaires were distributed, and 120 valid questionnaires were collected. Nurses who had heard of MARSI had higher KAP scores (t=3.544, P<0.001); nurses who participated in relevant training had higher KAP scores (t=3.188, P=0.002). There were statistically significant differences in KAP scores among nurses with different professional titles (F=3.331, P=0.039). No statistically significant differences were found in KAP scores among nurses of different genders, ages, educational backgrounds, nursing experience, hospital levels, whether they were nursing managers, or whether they had experienced MARSI in their wards (all P>0.05). Conclusion Nurses in the radiotherapy departments of comprehensive hospitals basically understand MARSI and pay attention to prevention in actual operations. Participating in various forms of MARSI handling training can effectively improve the KAP level of radiotherapy department nurses.
