Abstract:Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a blood product obtained by centrifugation of autologous whole blood, which has characteristics such as biocompatibility and non-immunogenicity, and is widely used in the treatment of osteoarthritis. However, due to the short biological half-life of growth factors in PRP and the fluidity at the injection site, repeated injections are usually required, increasing the risk of infection. In recent years, PRP-loaded hydrogels have attracted widespread attention. Compared with pure PRP, they can reduce the frequency of treatment, enhance local efficacy, and improve the safety of injection. This paper elaborates on the mechanism of action, experimental application, main advantages, and limitations of PRP-loaded hydrogels in the treatment of osteoarthritis, illustrating their potential in improving joint function and relieving pain, providing references for future clinical applications.
