Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics and perioperative psychological nursing experience of patients with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS). Methods: A total of 24 PJS patients who underwent surgery at the Department of General Surgery of the Air Force Characteristic Medical Center between March 1, 2020, and March 1, 2023, were selected as the case group. The control group consisted of 32 patients who underwent small intestinal surgery in the same department during the same period. Differences in clinical characteristics and psychological status between the two groups were compared to explore the clinical and psychological nursing features of PJS patients. Results: Among the case group, 29.17% (7/24) had their first surgery, while 96.88% (31/32) of the control group had their first surgery, showing a statistically significant difference (χ2=28.826, P<0.001). The age at surgery and BMI of the case group were lower than those of the control group (t=-5.114, -5.098, P<0.001 for both), while the average surgical time, postoperative eating time, first postoperative bowel movement time, and average hospital stay were longer in the case group, with statistically significant differences (Z=-3.857, -3.128, -2.703, 3.172, P<0.001, =0.002, =0.038, =0.002). In addition, the scores on the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale [(51.31±10.96) vs (41.55±5.40)] and the Self-Rating Depression Scale [(49.22±12.67) vs (43.81±6.42)] were higher in the case group than in the control group, with statistically significant differences (t=5.792, 2.791, P<0.001, =0.007). Conclusion: Patients with PJS often have tendencies toward anxiety and depression. Nurses should strengthen psychological care, enhance patients' confidence in treatment, and improve the quality of nursing care.
