Abstract:Objective: To investigate the composition of skin diseases among military personnel visiting the outpatient department of a hospital in the Southern Theater Command, and to compare it with that of the grassroots military personnel, providing a basis for formulating scientific support strategies. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the disease spectrum of military personnel who visited the dermatology outpatient department of a hospital in the Southern Theater Command from January 2019 to December 2023. The results were compared with the prevalence of common skin diseases among grassroots military personnel, and a satisfaction survey was conducted among the patients. Results: The main skin diseases among military personnel visiting the outpatient department were allergic skin diseases, skin appendage diseases, and fungal skin diseases. There were statistically significant differences between the results of this study and those of the grassroots military personnel's sampling survey in the following diseases: eczema, acne, hand and foot tinea, warts, tinea corporis and tinea cruris, furunculosis, intertrigo (intertriginous dermatitis), neurodermatitis, insect bite dermatitis, paronychia, corns, solar dermatitis, axillary odor, heat rash, and other conditions (χ²=5.842–9743.62, P≤0.016). Conclusion: Possible factors causing differences in skin diseases between military personnel in the Southern Theater Command and grassroots personnel include the medical process and personal health education issues. Therefore, optimization of the support strategy should be carried out from both prevention strategies and treatment processes.
