Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of hyperlipidemia on carotid artery structure in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with high frequency ultrasound. Methods A total of 88 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) who were treated in our hospital between June 2015 and July 2016 were enrolled in this study. The patients were divided into two groups∶ the DM alone group(42 cases)and combined with DH group(46 cases),while another 40 cases of physical examination subjects were selected as the control group.IMT,compliance(AC),elasticity coefficient(Ep) and stiffness coefficient(β)were observed by high frequency ultrasonography. The results of the first two groups were compared with those of the control group. Results The levels of HbA1c,TC,TG,LDL-C and other biochemical indexes in the control group were significantly lower than those in the DM group and DH group(P<0.05).The biochemical indexes of the DM group were significantly lower than those of the DH group(P<0.05).The parameters of the DM group were significantly lower than those of the DH group(P<0.05),and the levels of IMT,Ep,β,AC and other vascular structures were significantly lower than those of the DM group(P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between TG,IMT and β(P<0.05)or between HbA1c,IMT and β(P<0.05).Conclusion Hyperlipidemia can aggravate the degree of atherosclerosis in patients with T2DM.High-frequency ultrasonography can accurately and quickly evaluate the carotid artery structure and function of patients with T2DM complicated with hyperlipidemia, which is of great importance for the diagnosis and prevention of early vascular diseases.
