Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of levetiracetam in the treatment of children with febrile convulsion(FC)and its influence on the cranial nerve related factors and immune function in children. Methods The clinical data of 86 children with FC treated in our hospital between January 2015 and January 2017 was retrospectively analyzed. These patients were divided into the observation group (n=43) and the control group (n=43) according to treatment methods. The control group was given sodium valproate treatment, while the observation group was given levetiracetam treatment. The curative effect of the two groups was compared. The level of immune function, duration of fever, recurrence rate of seizures, rate of epilepsy and occurrence of adverse reactions were also compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).The recurrence rate was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05),There was no significant difference in the rate of epilepsy conversion between the two groups(P>0.05).The levels of BDNF,S-100β and NSE in the two groups were significantly lower after treatment(P<0.05),and were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of IgA,IgM,IgG and CD8+ in the two groups were significantly lower after treatment(P<0.05),but levels of CD4+,CD4+/CD8+ were significantly higher(P<0.05).The overall incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group(4.66%)was lower than that in the control group(18.64%) (P<0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of levetiracetam in treating children with febrile convulsion is excellent. This drug can not only help prevent the recurrence of FC,but also reduce the brain damage in children, improve the body's immune function.
