Disease spectrum of inpatients of Air Force admitted to ENT department from 2007 to 2016

Abstract:Objective To analyze the characteristics of the otorhinolaryngologic disease spectrum of Air Force inpatients in the central and western regions of China between 2007 and 2016,and to provide evidence for targeted prevention and treatment clinically.Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted of otorhinolaryngologic diseases among Air Force servicemen based on the data in front pages of medical records in the hospital information system between January 2007 and December 2016.A retrospective method was adopted to investigate the diseases in terms of incidence,changes of the disease spectrum,identity,age,season and aircrew.Results Between 2007 and 2016,there were 719 valid medical records of Air Force.The top twenty types of diseases treated by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology accounted for 91.52%.of the total.Nasal diseases were the most common,accounting for 49.93%.There were twenty cases related to the aircrew,making up 2.78%.The ratio of officers to soldiers in terms of disease was 0.36∶1,which conformed to the personnel structure of Air Force.Patients aged 20 or older were dominating,accounting for 46.45%.The incidence was the highest in winter,accounting for 27.68% of the total.Conclusion Deviation of nasal septum,tonsillitis,rhinosinusitis,bone and head-neck soft tissue traumatic injuries are the main target of treatment and prevention in the Air Force.It is necessary to take effective measures to strengthen targeted diagnosis and treatment of those diseases while improving health care and education.
