Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of ropivacaine combined with sufentanil on epidural anesthesia and maternal pain and stress among puerperants. Methods Two hundred normal puerperants admitted to our hospital between March 2015 to March 2016 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group (ropivacaine combined with sufentanil group) and control group (ropivacaine alone group), with 100 cases in each. The onset time of drugs, duration of the first dose, duration of delivery, pain scores, incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes (instrumental delivery, cesarean section, neonatal asphyxia, and postpartum hemorrhage) and levels of stress were compared between the two groups. Results The onset time of drug injection in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, while the duration of the first dose was longer than that of the control group(P<0.05). The first and second stages of labor were effectively shortened in the observation group, and the VAS score was lower than in the control group, so there was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). However, there was little effect on the third stage of labor, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The difference in the incidence of instrumental delivery, cesarean section and postpartum hemorrhage was statistically significant between the two groups. Conclusion Ropivacaine combined with sufentanil can effectively reduce the pain of maternal delivery, relieve the stress state of puerperants, reduce the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes, suggesting that this approach should be popularized in clinical practice.
