Abstract:Objective To follow up the distant vision variation of first-year and second-year students in Air Force youth aviation schools in order to further reduce the incidence of myopia and provide data for training plans. Methods The distant vision of students of the year 2015 and 2016 in two Air Force youth aviation schools in Northeast China was observed respectively during the recruitment selection and during the 2017 medical examination. Using the method of case-control study, the constituent ratio of distant vision and variable difference of distant vision of these students since enrollment were statistically analyzed. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the constituent ratio of distant vision among students of the year 2016 one year after enrollment and during the recruitment selection(P>0.05). However, there was statistically significant difference in the distant vision constituent ratio of students of the year 2015 two years after enrollment and during the recruitment selection(P<0.001). The variable difference of distant vision between students of the year 2015 and 2016 was of statistical significance(P<0.001). Conclusion The distant vision of second-year students is worse than that of first-year students in Air Force youth aviation schools, so regular examination of visual acuity should be conducted and feasible measures of myopia protection should be carried out so as to preserve quality source of students.
