Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of periodontal splints used for fixation around free-end loosening teeth. Methods Eighteen patients with free-end loosening teeth due to severe periodontitis were randomly divided into two groups, with nine cases in each. The experimental group underwent fiber periodontal splint fixation of the loosening teeth, while the control group was treated with nylon periodontal splint fixation. The changes in periodontal indexes and clinical efficacy during the preoperative period and one month, six months, twelve months into the maintenance period were observed. Results PD,PLI and SBI improved significantly (P<0.05) in the experimental group and control group six and twelve months after fixation. Six months and twelve months after fixation, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The fiber periodontal splint is better than nylon wire ligation, and the production is simple and easy, which can effectively save the loose teeth of patients with periodontitis.
