Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of vaccinia vaccine induced inflammation in rabbit skin extract injection in combination with compound lidocaine cream in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). Methods Eighty PHN patients were divided into control group (40 cases) and combined group (40 cases) according to the treatment method. The control group was treated with vaccinia vaccine induced inflammation in rabbit skin extract injection (intramuscular injection of 3 ml, twice a day, at an interval of 3 to 5 hours) , while the combined group was treated with this injection plus compound lidocaine cream (sterile gauze evenly coated 3-6 g, cling film sealed, close to the skin surface, twice a day, at an interval of 3 to 5 hours). Both groups of patients were treated for 2 weeks and followed up 3 days, 1 week and 2 weeks after treatment. Visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to evaluate pain scores and to observe pain changes and side effects. Results The VAS scores of the combined group significantly decreased at 3 days, 1 week and 2 weeks after treatment (P<0.05). The VAS score of the control group was not improved 3 days and 1 week after treatment (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the control group was significantly lower than that in the combined group (P<0.05), and statistically significant difference was detected between the two groups (P<0.05). One patient in the combined group had mild pain at the injection site and recovered spontaneously after treatment was stopped. Conclusion Vaccinia vaccine induced inflammation in rabbit skin extract injection combined with compound lidocaine cream is effective for treating PHN disease, with little side effect. It is worthy of popularization.
