Abstract:[Aabstract] Objective To observe the curative effect of acupuncture press needles in the treatment of primary dysmenorrheal. Methods Seventy cases of patients with primary dysmenorrheal were randomized into the treatment group and control group. There were 35 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with new press needles via auricular application pressure inside the genital, endocrine organs, shenmen, and liver for 7 to 10 days before each menstrual cycle. Each course of treatment lasted 15 days, and a second course began before the next menstrual cycle. A total of three courses of treatment were provided. The control group was treated with ibuprofen capsules to manage the pain. After three sessions, the VAS scores were observed and the results were compared. Results There was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After the first course of treatment, VAS scores of the control group were better than those in the treatment group (P<0.05). Before the 3rd course of treatment, VAS scores of the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The press needle treatment of primary dysmenorrhea can relieve pain in a short time, and has a similar long-term analgesic effect to ibuprofen, which can be used as an alternative therapy for analgesia.
