Abstract:Objective To compare the clinical outcome and value of febuxostat and allopurinol in gout. Methods 128 patients who were diagnosed with gout in Benxi Central Hospital between January 2013 and January 2015 were equally divided into four groups. Febuxostat 40, 80 mg, allopurinol 100 mg and 300 mg were given respectively. The laboratory data and adverse reactions were observed before medication and 3, 7, 14 days after medication. Results The level of uremic acid in group F1 and F2 at 7 days was lower than in group A1 and A2 respectively(P<0.05), and was also lower in group F2 than in group A1 and A2 (P<0.05). The level of uremic acid in group F1 and F2 at 14 days was lower than in group A1 and A2(P<0.05,P<0.01). The level of Egfr at 14 days in group F1 and F2 was higher than in A1 and A2(P<0.05). The level of TC and TG in group F1 was lower than in group A2(P<0.05). The liver and renal function was not different between the four groups(P>0.05). The rate of gastrointestinal reactions in group F1 and F2 was lower than in group A1 and A2(P<0.05). The rate of renal abnormality in group F2 was lower than in group A2(P<0.05).Conclusion Febuxostat is more effective than allopurinol in uremic acid control and the rate of adverse reactions is lower.
