Abstract:ObjectiveTo detect the expression of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) and cyclooxygenase-2's (COX-2) transcription in oral cancer and to discuss its correlations with tissue differentiation and lymph node metastasis.MethodsFifty patients with oral cancer treated in Chongqing Dazu District People's Hospital between January 2013 and December 2014 were randomly selected as subjects. Oral cancer tissue and normal oral tissue of these patients were collected. The expression of NF-κB and COX-2 was detected by streptavidin-peroxidase assay. The relationships between the degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis were analyzed. ResultsThere was no expression of NF-κB and COX-2 in adjacent tissues, but the expression of NF-κB and COX-2 in oral cancer tissues was high (P<0.05). The positive expression rate of NF-κB and COX-2 in poorly and moderately differentiated oral squamous cell carcinoma was significantly higher than that of highly differentiated oral cancer (P<0.05). The positive expression rate of NF-κB and COX-2 in cases of lymphatic metastasis of oral carcinoma was significantly higher than in those without lymph node metastasis of oral cancer (P<0.05). The expression of NF-κB was positively correlated with COX-2 in oral cancer.ConclusionThe expression of NF-κB and COX-2 is associated with the development, tissue differentiation and lymph node metastasis of oral cancer.
