Characteristics of hepatic veno-occlusive disease on ultrasonography and its differential diagnosis

Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the characteristics of hepatic veno-occlusive disease (HOVD) on ultrasonography and its clinical value.MethodsNineteen patients with HOVD diagnosed by pathobiology were examined by ultrasonography. The imaging characteristics of liver, hepatic vein (HV), portal vein (PV), hepatic artery (HA), inferior vena hepatic vein (HV), portal vein (PV), hepatic artery (HA), inferior vena cava (IVC), gallbladder, spleen and volume of ascite were observed.ResultsThe feature of HOVD examined by ultrasonography included several aspects, such as, hepatomegaly, the uneven echo of hepatic zones, portal vein hypertension on different levels, attenuate of HV, artery resistance index increased, formation of HV collateral circula, thickened of the gallbladder wall, splenomegaly and ascites. ConclusionUltrasonography provide a considerable aid to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of HOVD.
