Abstract:ObjectiveTo analyze the difference of disease spectrum between the aged pilots and general aged population and to investigate the correlation between the flightoccupational factors and the aged disease spectrum. MethodsThe medical records of 34 cases from both crowds were collected respectively and randomly and the difference between the two groups was compared.ResultsThe prevalence of lumhar disc herniation(21 casesvs 12 cases, 61.8%vs 35.3%,P=0.029)and osteoarthritis(25 casesvs 9 cases, 73.5%vs 26.5%,P=0.046)were higher and the age of onset of coronary heartdisease[(60.8±7.5)yvs(68.2±6.2)y,P=0.029] was younger than the control group. There was obvious difference between them(P<0.05).ConclusionThe disease spectrum of pilots and non-pilots is slightly different, whilst a higher proportion of pilots suffer from lumhar disc herniation, osteoarthritis and earlier onset of coronary heart disease is also observed in the pilot group. The analysis on the reasons ofdisease spectrum will contribute to a better understanding of health care needs of the aged of pilots.
