Social avoidance and distress among patient with primary palmar hyperhidrosis

Abstract:Objective To comprehend the situation of severe primary palmar hyperhidrosis(PPH)with social avoidance and distress to guide clinical work. Methods Patients with the treatment of severe PPH were assessed by social avoidance and distress scale(SAD), and 93 cases of valid date were statistically analyzed. Results The SAD score(15.53±7.361), avoidance score(8.27±4.030)and distress score(7.26±3.931)in the patients of severe PPH were significantly higher than the norm(P<0.001). Meanwhile, there was no difference under the grouped by gender, family history, marital status and the course of the disease, but when compared in the age group, distress score in older group(>22 years old)were significantly higher than the youngers(≤22 years old)(P<0.05). Conclusion The phenomenon of social avoidance and distress has a higher prevalence among patients with severe PPH, and social distress would be aggravated with the age increase.
