Abstract:Objective To study the R577X locus polymorphism of theα-actinins-3 (ACTN3) gene in pilots, and explore the relationship between the polymorphism and the performance of the pilots. Methods The polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was used to determine the polymorphism of the ACTN3 gene in 122 pilots and 128 healthy subjects as controls. Results The differences were not statistically significant in genotypes and allele frequency of R577X locus between the pilots group and the healthy controls group. Conclusion It is suggested that the R577X locus polymorphism of ACTN3 gene was not a marker in predicting the performance of the pilots.
