Diagnostic value of single/double balloon endoscopy in gastrolintestinal bleeding resulting from small intestinal diseases

Abstract:Objective We aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of single/double balloon endoscopy (S/DBE) in Gastrointestinal Bleeding resulted from small intestinal diseases.MethodsRetrospective analyze of 193 patients with small intestinal bleeding undergoing S/DBE from July 2006 to June 2013 was made. The causes of small intestinal bleeding were observed by S/ DBE.ResultsPositive detection rate of small intestinal bleeding was 86.53% (167/193). Etiological diagnosis rate was 78.44%(131/167). The most common reasons of small intestinal bleeding were small intestine ulcer, interstitialoma, Crohn's disease, mucosal inflammatory changes, vascular dilatation, small intestine carcinoma, small intestine diverticulum, polyp, and metastatic melanoma of small bowel et al. No significant differences were found in types of single/ double balloon endoscopy.ConclusionsS/DBE has high diagnostic value in gastrol intestinal bleeding resulting from small intestinal diseases. The most common reasons were small intestine ulcer, interstitialoma, Crohn's disease. No significant differences were found in types of single/ double balloon endoscopy.
