Abstract:Objective Our purpose was to investigate the expression of microRNA-17-5p(miR-17-5p)in urine from the patients of bladder cancer. Methods Real-time RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of miR-17-5p in urine, whose data were analyzed by the relatively quantitative 2-△△CT method. Then, we analyzed the association between miR-17-5p expression and clinicopathological characteristics in bladder cancer by Chi-Square Test. Results The results showed that the expression of miR-17-5p increased significantly compared with that of the normal control. Among 26 patients, 18 (69.2%) cases showed an obvious high-expression of miR-17-5p. Meanwhile, there was a significant positive correlation between the expression of miR-17-5p and tumor size/malignant degree. Conclusion The high expression of miR-17-5p in urine might be involved in the tumorigenesis and development of bladder cancer, indicating its possibility of becoming an important marker for bladder cancer, and of providing a new diagnostic strategy.
