Abstract:Objective We aimed to investigate the effects of flight occupation on the cerebral hemodynamics of pilots by Tanscranial Doppler (TCD) technique. Methods 125 pilots (32.26±4.47) year and 89 healthy volunteers (29.80±7.58) year were selected in the study. The systolic velocity(Vs), diastolic velocity (Vd), mean flow velocity, mean velocity(Vm), plasticity index (PI) and resistance index of anterior cerebral artery, vertebral artery and the basilar artery in the subjects were observed using the Doppler ultrasound technique. Results Compared with the control group , RI of left anterior cerebral artery decreased significantly in pilots [P=0.0464, (0.527±0.005) vs (0.542±0.006)]. Other hemodynamic parameters had no statistically changes. Conclusions The flight occupation doesn’t affect the cerebral hemodynamics of pilots generally, but flight occupation may improve pilot’s regulation, vasodilatation and complaisance of cerebral arteries.
