Abstract:Objective We directed to explore the accuracy of the visual acuity and color vision function of the special visual inspection instrument and to evaluate the feasibility of using this function in the pilots’physical examination. Methods Forty-two healthy adults served as subjects. The visual acuity was measured by the special visual inspection instrument and the LogMAR visual chart. The color vision was tested by the special visual inspection instrument, the pseudoisochromatic plates and FM-100 hue test. Results The results of the far visual acuity of three instruments were listed by grade. There were no significant difference in far visual acuity among three instruments( =2.89,P>0.7, =3.65,P>0.5, =3.18,P>0.6). The results of the near visual acuity of the special visual inspection instrument and the standard near visual chart were (-0.016±0.15) and (-0.013±0.16) respectively. There was no significant difference in near visual acuity between two instruments(t=0.344,P>0.7), either. The qualification rate of three instruments were all 100%. Conclusions The results of visual acuity and color vision of the special visual inspection instrument were accurate and reliable.
