Study of the efficacy and safety of step treatment program, of which empyreumatic oil from sophora alopecuroides L Is the main subject, in the treatment of chronic eczema and dermatitis

Abstract: Objective We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of two step treatment programs in treating patients of PLA with chronic dermatitis and eczema. Methods Outpatients of PLA with chronic eczema and dermatitis in our department were divided into two groups (treatment group and control group) randomly according to EISA scores. The patients of the treatment group with mild condition were given only empyreumatic oil from sophora alopecuroides L (EOSA), and the control group given triamcinolone acetonide liniment. The patients of the treatment group with moderate condition were given EOSA; the control group given triamcinolone acetonide liniment;both of the two groups were also given one loratadine tablets in the morning and ketotifen tablets before sleep. The patients of the treatment group with severe condition were given EOSA and given one Loratadine tablets in the morning and ketotifen tablets before sleep and also given triamcinolone acetonide liniment while the patients of the control group were given triamcinolone acetonide liniment, and given one loratadine tablets in the morning and ketotifen tablets before sleep and also given two prednisone tablets three times a day for five days. The course covered two weeks. Results There were no significant difference in therapeutic effects of two groups after one or two weeks’duration. The patients in the control group had higher incidence of adverse effects than those in treatment group. Conclusion Step Treatment Program, of which EOSA was the main subject, was more effective and safe for treatment of the patients with chronic eczema and dermatitis.
