Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of enteral nutrition on organ function in critically ill patients. Methods 35 cases cerebral ill patients were randomly divided into control group(intravenous infusion, n=17) and study group(intravenous infusion+enteral nutrition, n=18). The PaO2、 PaCO2、 white blood cell and the plasma contents of SGPT、 BUN and the percentage of gastrointestinal haemorrhage should be assayed one week after treatment were given. Results The white blood cell and the plasma contents of SGPT and the percentage of gastrointestinal haemorrhage was significantly higher in control group patients[(11.69±2.87), (59.87+21.39),(65%)] than that in study group patients[(9.85±3.48),(41.08±22.31),(22%),P<0.05]. Hower, PaO2 in control group patients(8.37±0.66) were markedly lower compared with study group patients[(10.83±1.93), P<0.05]. There was no significant difference in PaCO2 and the plasma contents of BUN between the two groups one week after treatment were given(P>0.05). Conclusions Early stage enteral nutrition is conducive to protecting gastrointestinal function, preventing bacterial translocation, alleviating systemic inflammatory response and subsequent multiple organ failure among critically ill patients.
