Abstract:Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)is the sixth most common human cancer worldwide. In addition to tobacco and alcohol consumption, human papillomavirus(HPV),genetic and epigenetic alterations play an important role in HNSCC occurrence and progression.Micromas are small single-stranded non-coding Rnas, approximately 19 to 25 nucleotides, that are involved in HNSCC tumorigenesis, including dysregulation of cell survival, proliferation, cell differentiation, adhesion, and invasion. The expression profile of mirnas showed that some mirnas in tumor cells were up-regulated or down-regulated compared to normal cells. This article reviews the role of miRNA in the occurrence and development of HNSCC and its application in early diagnosis and treatment.Due to the potential of miRNA in cancer diagnosis and as a therapeutic target,it may be used as a biomarker to bring new perspectives to the in-depth study and treatment of HNSCC.
