Effect of Qishen Yiqi Dropping Pills on Myocardial Remodeling in Patients with Vulnerable Stage of Heart Failure

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of Qishen Yiqi dropping pills on myocardial remodeling in patients with vulnerable heart failure,and to explore its possible pathogenesis.Methods A total of 106 patients with vulnerable heart failure who were hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University from May 2021 to January 2022 were randomly divided into control group and experimental group.The control group was given standardized drug treatment for heart failure.These include angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors(ACEI)or angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blockers(ARB)or angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor(ARNI),β-blockers,diuretics,etc.In the experimental group,Qishen Yiqi dropping pills 0.5 g,3 times/day,were added on the basis of the above drugs for 3 months.The quality of life scores and New York Heart Association(NYHA)Cardiac Function Scale 6-minute walking test,Borg score,left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left ventricular end-systolic diameter(LVESD),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),serum B natriuretic peptide(BNP),galectin-3 and soluble ST2(sST-2)contents were detected before and after treatment,liver function,kidney function and blood lipid were monitored before and after treatment,and the re-hospitalization of patients in 2 groups within 3 months was observed.Results Minnesota quality of life scores decreased in both groups,and the decrease was more significant in the experimental group compared with the control group.Compared with before treatment,NYHA cardiac function grade,6-minute walking test,Borg score and BNP were improved in both groups(P＜0.01),and the improvement in the experimental group was better than that in the control group.Compared with before treatment,LVEDD and LVESD decreased,LVEF increased,Galectin-3 and sST-2 contents decreased in both groups(P＜0.01),and the improvement in the experimental group was better than that in the control group.The re-hospitalization rate of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group within 3 months(P＜0.05).Conclusion Qishen Yiqi dropping pills can improve heart function and reduce myocardial remodeling in patients with heart failure in vulnerable stage.The mechanism of reducing myocardial remodeling may be related to the decrease of serum galectin-3 and sST-2 in patients with heart failure in vulnerable stage.
