Effect of Cervical Dilation Balloon and Misoprostol on Cervical Ripening in Late Trimester Pregnancy

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of cervical dilation balloon and misoprostol on cervical ripening in late trimester pregnancy.Methods 92 primiparas with induced labor indications in our hospital from January 2015 to January 2016 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group,with 46 cases in each group.To boost cervical ripening,primiparas in the control group were treated with misoprostol while cervical dilation balloons were used in the observation group.The cervical Bishop score,the cervical ripening status,cesarean section rate,postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal status before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.Results The Bishop scores increased significantly in both groups after treatment(P<0.05),and those of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05),the total effective rate of cervical ripening in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),the amount of postpartum hemorrhage in the primiparas in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in cesarean section rate,Apgar score and neonatal weight between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of cervical dilation balloon in boosting cervical ripening is superior to that of misoprostol with improvement of cervical score and higher safety.
