Abstract:Objective To study the influence of episiotomy on postpartum pelvic floor muscle strength and postoperative complications. Methods 120 cases of natural delivery with episiotomy from June 2016 to October 2016 in our hospital were collected as observation group and 120 cases of natural delivery without episiotomy as control group. The pelvic floor muscle strength and postoperative complications after eight postpartum weeks were investigated and compared. Results 51.57% of the cases in observation group had normal postpartum pelvic floor muscle strength, lower than that of the control group (70.83%,P<0.05).The incidence of postpartum complications in observation group was 30.83%,which was higher than that of the control group (12.50%,P<0.05).Conclusion Episiotomy could adversely affect the recovery of postpartum pelvic floor muscle strength and increase the probability of the postoperative complications. The indications of episiotomy in clinical practice should be strictly controlled to avoid affecting the quality of postpartum recovery for the abuse of it.
