Analysis of Mental Health Status and Its Influencing Factors of 1 250 Middle School Students in Taishan City

Abstract：Objective To investigate the mental health status and its influencing factors of middle school students in Taishan City,and provide theoretical basis for scientific development of mental health education of middle school students.Methods A questionnaire was conducted among the cluster sampling of 1 250 middle school students in Taishan by using the symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90) and the self-designed general condition questionnaire of family members.Results Among the 1 250 middle school students who participated in the survey,532 students had psychological problems,and the detection rate was 42.56%.Single factor analysis showed that positive mental health of middle school students in Taishan was correlated with family size,family type,parental relationship,family education pattern,family income and parents' literacy level, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Multi-factor analysis results showed that according to the danger level,influencing factors of psychological problems of middle school students were arranged as parents' literacy level below high school,single parent or restructuring family,low family income,quarreling or divorced parents,abusing or scolding family education pattern and family size ≥ 6 members (OR were 9.973,9.682,8.902,8.776,6.875,1.632 respectively,and (P<0.05).Conclusion Mental health status of middle school students in Taishan city is not promising,which needs the concern of the whole society.Particular attention should be drawn to the influence of family factors on the mental health of middle school students.
