Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of bifidobacterium combined with mesalazine and mesalazine monotherapy in treatment of mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis (UC).Methods 50 patients with mild-to-moderate UC admitted to our hospital from August 2014 to August 2015 were randomly divided into two groups, with 25 cases in each group.Patients in the control group took mesalazine enteric-coated tablets, and on this basis, those in the observation group were additionally given bifidobaeterium tetravaccine tablets.Clinical effects of the two groups were compared. Results Disease activity index (DAI) and the difference in inflammatory markers before and after treatment of the control group were significantly lower than those of the observation group, with statistical difference (P<0.05),total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and there was statistical difference (P<0.05),incidence of adverse reactions and recurrence rate of the two groups were not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusion Bifidobacterium combined with mesalazine has more significant effects than mesalazine monotherapy on treatment of mild-to-moderate UC, without obvious adverse reactions and with high safety, which is worthy to be popularized in clinical application.
