Abstract:Objective To evaluate the expression of Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin (TSLP) and Regulated on Activation in Normal T-Cell Expressed and Secreted (RANTES) in nasal polyposis, discuss the effects of TSLP and RANTES in the development of nasal polyposis, and explore the correlations between TSLP and EOS infiltration and between RANTES and EOS infiltration respectively. Methods Hematoxylin-eosin staining, immunohistochemistry and real-time RT-PCR were used to detect the expression of TSLP,RANTES and EOS,and to analyze the correlations among them. Results The percentage of eosinophils observed by microscopy was 73.33 ± 9.33 in the experimental group and 21.50 ± 5.67 in the control group (P <0.05).The number of TSLP positive cells was 34.65 ± 9.25 in the experimental group and 15.56 ± 6.35 in the control group (P <0.05).The number of RANTES positive cells was 49.50 ± 8.35 in the experimental group and 9.67 ± 5.25 in the control group (P <0.05).The relative value of TSLPmRNA was 27.18 ± 6.11 in the experimental group and 7.14 ± 4.29 in the control group (P<0.05).The relative value of RANTESmRNA was 19.14 ± 7.18 in the experimental group and 3.04 ± 1.37 in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion In nasal polyposis composed of EOS,TSLP protein,RANTES protein and mRNA expression are obviously higher than those in the normal tissues. Moreover,TSLP and RANTES have close correlations with the occurrence and development of EOS in the nasal polyposis.
