Abstract:Objective To explore the diagnostic value of serum cystatin C ( CysC) in early renal damage for patients with hyper-tension and diabetes. Methods Serum CysC of 120 hyperpietic patients ( hypertension group ) , 120 diabetic patients ( diabetes group) and 120 healthy subjects without hypertension, diabetes and renal damage ( control group) were tested respectively using AEROSET fully automatic biochemical analyzer by the micro particle enhanced turbidimetric method. The positive rates and average values of serum CysC in these three groups were calculated. The differences between the three groups were compared with 2 test and t test statistical methods respectively to analyze the diagnostic value of serum CysC in early renal damage for patients with hypertension and diabetes. Results The positive rate of serum CysC was 42. 50% in hypertension group and it was 22. 50% in diabetes group and 0 in control group. The positive rates of serum CysC in hypertension group and diabetes group were significantly higher than that in con-trol group (P<0. 01). The positive rate of serum CysC in hypertension group was significantly higher than that in diabetes group (P<0. 01). The differences in these three groups were statistically significant. The average value of serum CysC was (1. 19±0. 57) mg/L in hypertension group, (0. 99±0. 51) mg/L in diabetes group and (0. 81±0. 17) mg/L in control group. The average values of serum CysC in hypertension group and diabetes group were significantly higher than that in control group (P<0. 01). The average value of se-rum CysC in hypertension group was significantly higher than that in diabetes group ( P<0. 01 ) . The differences in three groups were statistically significant. Conclusion Patients with hypertension and diabetes were likely to suffer kidney damage. Moreover, patients with hypertension were more likely to suffer kidney damage than those with diabetes. The test of serum CysC was of clinical value in di-agnosing the early renal damage for patients with hypertension and diabetes.
