Observation of 736 Patients with Essential Hypertension Pulse Wave Velocity

Abstract：Objective To investigate the influence factors of essential hypertension brachial pulse wave conduction velocity ( baP-WV) and its correlation with blood pressure grading and risk factors. Method 736 patients with confirmed primary hypertension were selected. Full automatic arterial stiffness tester was used to take records of PWV of both the right and left brachial artery-malleolar ar-tery, and to analyze the records of PWV. Results (1) The increase of baPWV has a direct relation with the level of blood pressure grading. (2) The increase of baPWV has a direct relation with patients of primary hypertension combined with coronary heart disease, diabetes and cerebral vascular disease. (3) With the clustering of cardiovascular risk factors, the possibilities of arterial sclerosis de-termined by baPWV increase obviously. Conclusion baPWV is an early indicator to evaluate the risk of arteriosclerosis.
