Abstract:Objective To study the incidence of Aspirin Resistance ( AR) and its correlation with diabetes mellitus in the pa-tients with ischemic stroke. Methods A total of 162 patients who suffered ischemic stroke for the first time were all treated with aspi-rin and divided into AR group, ASR ( Aspirin Semi Resistance) group, AR+ASR group and AS ( Aspirin Sensitive) group. The inci-dence of AR was tallied and its correlation with diabetes mellitus was analyzed. Results ( 1 ) The incidences of the first 3 groups were indicated as 32. 72% ( 53/162 ) , 9. 88 % ( 16/162 ) , and 42. 59 % ( 69/162 ) respectively. ( 2 ) Compared with the AS group, the patients with diabetes mellitus accounted for a higher proportion in the AR and AR+ASR group, with significant difference (P<0. 05). Conclusions (1) There are still a large number of patients who suffered from ischemic stroke with conventional use of aspirin in western Liaoning Province. The total incidence of AR and ASR is 42. 59%. (2) The AR and ASR may be related to diabe-tes mellitus.
