Abstract:Objective To study the correlation among plasma concentration, the dose and clinical efficacy of fluoxetine in the patients with depression, and guide the rational use of fluoxetine. Methods The blood of 34 patients with depression taking fluoxe-tine was collected, and then the plasma was extracted. The blood concentration was detected by HPLC. The correlation between the blood concentration and clinical effect, dose, weight, age, gender was analyzed by SPSS13. 0. Results The correlation coefficient of dose and plasma concentration was 0. 499 (P<0. 01). The correlation coefficient of age and plasma concentration was 0. 094 (P>0. 05). The correlation coefficient of weight and plasma concentration was 0. 149 (P>0. 05) . There was no significant difference in the plasma concentration between male (n=11) and female (n=12, P>0. 05) . There was no difference in the plasma concentration of fluoxetine (P>0. 05) among all the three groups of different therapeutic treatment: no obvious curative effect group (n=13), bet-ter condition group ( n=9 ) , rehabilitation group ( n=12 ) . There was significant difference in the length of treatment ( P<0. 01 ) . Conclusion The plasma concentration of fluoxetine obviously rises with increase of dose. Gender, age and weight have no effect on plasma concentration. The therapeutic effect can be improved significantly with longer treatment using this medicine; however, no difference in plasma concentration of different curative effects has been observed.
