Abstract:Objective To explore the influence of lycium barbarum polysaccharides ( LBP) on blood glucose and blood lipid in type 2 diabetic rats. Methods 100 wistar rats were randomly divided into the control group and the model group, with 50 rats in each group. Rats in the control group were given regular feed, while those in the model group were given feed with high sugar and high fat, as well as intraperitoneal injection of streptozocin to build type 2 diabetic rat models. 45 rat models were successfully built, and were divided into four groups by random number table method to lavage different doses of LBP intervention. There were 11 rats in the non-intervention group (no LBP), 11 rats in the low-dose group (100mg/kg), 12 rats in the mid-dose group (200 mg/kg) and 11 rats in the high-dose group ( 400 mg/kg ) . Equal amount of physiological saline was given to the non-intervention group and the control group. After 4 weeks of LBP intervention, levels of fasting insulin (FINS), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose ( FBG) , total cholesterol ( TC) , low density lipoprotein ( LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein ( HDL-C) in all groups were detec-ted. Results (1) Compared with the non-intervention group, levels of FBG and HbA1c in the control group and in the high-dose, mid-dose, low-dose groups were all significantly lower (P<0. 05), while the FINS level was higher (P<0. 05). There was relativity between glucose level and LBP dose. (2) Compared with non-intervention group, levels of TC and LDL-C were significantly lower in other groups (P<0. 05), while HDL-C level was higher (P<0. 05). Blood lipid level and LBP dose were related. Conclusion LBP could effectively reduce levels of blood glucose and lipid in type 2 diabetic rats, with dose-effect relationship and good clinical effica-cy.
