Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of the posterolateral approach on lateral and posterior malleolus ankle fractures. Methods 51 cases of patients with lateral and posterior malleolus ankle fracture were chosen for the study. The posterolat-eral approach was adopted as the main exposure pathway and all were treated by fixation with T-type plate. The follow-up AOFAS questionnaire scores were analyzed and the overall recovery of patients was evaluated. Results 51 patients scored ranging from 75 to 97 in the AOFAS questionnaire survey. The average was (90.5±8.2), with 14 cases to be excellent, 33 cases good, 4 cases general. After the operation, no internal fixation fell off, with no obvious bone nonunion and other complications. Conclusion The curative effect of posterolateral approach for patients with lateral and posterior malleolus ankel fracture is sound and with high safety, which is worthy of clinical application.
