Synthesis of N-Ethylacetamide

Abstract：Objective As a kind of important chemical intermediate, N-Ethylacetamide has been widely applied to medicine, pesticide and so on.N-Ethylacetamide was synthesized from ethyl acetate, ethylamine and composition of Al2 O3 -SiO2 as catalyst. Methods The effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, catalyst on the reaction product yield were evaluated, and the optimum reaction conditions were: water bath 24 h at 40℃ and at room temperature for 48 h.Results Under the optimum conditions, yield reached to 61.62% with the purity of product amounting up to 99% (HPLC, normalization method).The structure of product was manifested by 1HNMR spectrometry.Conclusions The improved process is simple and convenient, and suitable for thelaboratory preparation.
