On the Efficacy of Abdominal Sticking Therapy used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for Children with Constipation

Abstract:Objective To observe the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine used in abdominal sticking therapy for chil-dren with constipation, and to compare its effectiveness with that of oral pediatric Tai Chi pill. Methods 84 patients were randomly divided into the treatment group (44 cases) and the control group (40 cases). Patients in the treatment group were treated with ab-dominal sticking therapy ( pestle Sanleng, Ezhu, rhubarb, mirabilite and borneol ground into powder, combined with green Chinese onion juice into a paste to form a 6 cm-diameter medicine cake and stuck to the abdomen with the navel as the center); patients in the control group were treated with oral pediatric Tai Chi pill. Results Total effective rate was 81. 8% in the treatment group, compared with 50% in the control group. According to the results, the treatment group’s curative effect was better than that of the control group (P<0. 05), the first defecation time was:(5. 2±2. 7) hours for the treatment group and (10. 2±7. 7) hours for the control group. Therefore, the treatment group’s curative effect was better than that of the control group (P<0. 05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese abdominal sticking therapy for children with constipation proves to be definitely effective, which is worthy of application and populari-zation.
