Treatment of 23 Cases of Acute Puffer Poisoning

Abstract：Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of puffer poisoning, summarizing rescue methods. Methods To observe clinical characteristics, rescue methods and results by retrospective analysis of 23 cases puffer poisoning. Results In the 23 patients who have been rescued, 20 were cured, among whom 4 critically ill patients were timely treated by intubation and mechanical ventilation, who re-established spontaneous breathing 2~22 h later and were cured after another week. While 3 cases died due to un-timely rescue or multiple organ failure. Conclusion To improve the survival rate of puffer poisoning, it is essential to use gastric lav-age, catharsis and other symptomatic life support, and it is critical to timely establish the artificial airway to maintain effective ventila-tion .
