Diagnosis and Treatment of Intractable Epistaxis Under Nasal Endoscope

Abstract：Objective To investigate the bleeding sites and treatment of intractable epistaxis under nasal endoscope. MethodsThe bleeding points, bleeding reasons and its correlation with age and curative effect of 83 patients with intractable epistaxis were stud-ied retrospectively. Results The bleeding points and the bleeding reasons proved to be related in some degree to patients'age. Except local packing in 9 cases and nasal operation in 7 cases, 67 cases were treated with microwave coagulation or electrocoagulation. Con-clusion The bleeding sites can be located accurately under nasal endoscope. Electrocoagulation or local packing is effective to stop bleeding, and is less painful for patients with intractable epitaxis. It is the first choice to examine and treat epistaxis and worthy to be recommended.
