Clinical Observation of the Curative Effect of Telmisartan Combined with Atorvastatin on Early Renal Damage of Diabetes

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of telmisartan combined with atorvastatin on arterial stiffness in the patients with early renal damage of diabetes. Methods 88 cases of early diabetic nephropathy ( DN) were selected from 2011 May to 2013 May in our hospital, which were randomly divided into the study group and the control group with 44 cases in each group. Patients in control group were given telmisartan (40 mg/d) while the ones in study group were added atorvastatin (20 mg/d), and both groups were trea-ted for 3 months. Blood creatinine ( SCr) , urinary protein ( UAE) and plasma cystatin C ( CysC) , ( BUN) were compared after that, and color doppler ultrasound measurement of ankle brachial index was also used in the two groups to measure the ankle brachial index ( ABI) and cardio ankle vascular index ( CAVI) . Results After 3 months, SCr, UAE, CysC, BUN in the study group were reduced by (59.69±10.42) μmol/L, (0.64±0.45) g/24 h, (0.77±0.12) mg/L and (6.61±1.48) mmol/L respectively. While in the control group, the figures were (40.71±11.22) μmol/L, (0.37±0.56) g/24 h, (0.50±0.11) mg/L and (3.50±1.27) mmol/L, which were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, ABI and CAVI change in the study group were (0.17±0.08) and (2.96±0.73), while (0.02±0.02) and (1.47±0.52) in control group. The differences were statistically signifi-cant (P<0.05). Conclusion Telmisartan combined with atorvastatin can inhibit the DN early renal damage and also has good effect on arterial stiffness for slowing the progression of atherosclerosis, thus worth clinical promotion and application.
