Abstract:Objective To study the impact of minocycline hydrochloride sustained-release agents on IL-6 level in gingival sul-cus fluid of patients with chronic periodontitis. Methods 160 patients with chronic periodontitis were selected, who received treatment in our hospital from January 2009 to May 2013.They were randomly divided into the study group (80 cases) and the control group (80 cases);as for the study group, minocycline hydrochloride sustained-release agent was put in periodontal pockets and the control group received routine treatment with tinidazole .Different clinical efficacy got recorded and analyzed in terms of IL-6 levels of patients .Re-sults After treatment and before treatment, PLI, BOP, PD of the study group and the control group were both lower;the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);differences of PLI, BOP, PD between the two groups before treatment were not statistically sig-nificant (P>0.05);after treatment, differences of PLI, BOP, PD in the two groups were statistically significant (P <0.05 ).It was discovered that IL-6 decreased for both the study group and the control group before treatment and after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05 ) .-6 IL differences between the two groups was not statistically significant before treatment ( P>0.05 ) , and -6 IL differences between the two groups after treatment was statistically significant ( P<0.05 ) .Conclusion Minocy-cline hydrochloride sustained-release agents can reduce the levels of IL-6 in order to alleviate the inflammatory response in patients with chronic periodontitis.
