Abstract:To enhance the cutting capabilities of slurry abrasive water jets, concrete and rock cutting experi-ments were conducted using custom-developed slurry abrasive and cutting equipment. The study analyzed the impact of cutting pressure, nozzle movement speed, and material's uniaxial compressive strength on cutting performance. The results showed that, under identical conditions, slurry abrasive water jets significantly outper-form pure water jets in terms of cutting depth, with a more pronounced advantage on materials with higher strength. The cutting ability of the slurry abrasive water jet effectively cut medium-hard sandstone(such as cutting slots with 100 mm depth and 10 m length in 0.5~1.0 hours),and was applied to on-site mining engineering tasks in coal mines, including relieving roof strata pressure, creating roadway retention, and processing gangue in working faces.Prolonged jet nozzle impact at the same cutting location increased the"water cushion"effect, resulting in higher efficiency for multiple quick repeated cuts compared to single slow cuts within the same timeframe.Analyzing the cutting experiment results,a predictive model for cutting depth was developed based on cutting pressure, nozzle moving speed and uniaxial compressive strength of material.Additionally,a cutting depth prediction model for repeated cuts, considering the number of cutting cycles, was derived from this base model.
