Abstract:Three kinds of height sample(i.e.15 mm,20 mm and 25 mm were made which height were 15 mm,20 mm and 25 mm.The expansive force and rate of remolded expansive soils in Handan were tested. The influence of specimen height on the expansive characteristics was analyzed. The results show that under the K0 stress state, the expansive force increased linearly along with the increase of specimen height in the test height. The expansive force increases 1.92 kPa when the height of sample increases per 1 mm.The expansive force had no size effect during the wetting process. However, along with the increase of sample height, the growth rate of the free expansive ratio increases correlatively. The expansive rate of expansive soil varied with the height of the specimen. When the height of sample increased per 1 mm,the expansive ratio increased about 1.06% and the expansion rate had an obvious size effect.
