Experimental study and analysis on meso-damage of precracked marble specimen
Abstract：Based on the program of SEM tracking marble meso-damage experiments, we select marble rock samples which come from the diversion tunnel of Jinping Hydropower Station in Sichuan Province for experi- mental observation. Using scanning electron microscope shooting a lot of mesoscopie damage evolution images under different loads, meaningful images are choosed for damage failure characteristics analysis. The results show that, as the stress concentration, Micro-cracks which are perpendicular to the pre-crack are formed in precraeked marble specimes in the initial stage load. Lots of the pull - crack and branch crack are emerged- as the load increases, direction of crack propagation turn to the load axis gradually; Finally, As the initial dam- age and damage accumulation, the role of＇compression-shear plays control function to rock damage, and the shear failure plane is formed.
