Finite element analysis of concrete filled double steel tubular column under axial compression
Abstract:A nonlinear finite element model was developed to simulate double steel tubular concrete columns under axial compression based on a plastic damaged model of concrete and elastic-plastic constitutive relationship of steel. The load-displacement curves are simulated and more attentions are plied on the interaction mechanism of the outside and inside steel tube.A parametric study is also carried out.The numerical results indicate inside tube radius, tube thickness and concrete core strength correlate with the increase of the ultimate strength of the composite column. The numerical results have a close agreement with the tests.
