Evaluation on methods of predicting in-situ stresses by using borehole breakout
Abstract：Several types of methods about predicting in-situ stress using borehole breakout are introduced in this paper,and then compared with each other.Using borehole breakout to predict in-situ stress is related to the scale of breakout,viz the depth and span of borehole breakout.As a result of borehole breakout is continuous,the first breakout depth is hard to measure,the methods using breakout depth as the main parameter are unsuitable to apply.The span of borehole breakout is unchanged basically.Although the methods using breakout span seem to be more convenient,the prediction results of this type of method are more likely affected by the application of strength criterion.
