Abstract：From the viewpoint of the history of Surveying and Mapping, it enumerates and analyzes several lately science and technology (taking GPS, RS, GIS as representative) which have played an important roles in the development of Surveying and Mapping. It elaborates the development trend of Surveying and Mapping under the promotion of the lately science and technology as a result. It has stated that with the actualization of the assumption on Digital Earth, the traditional or modern Surveying and Mapping will take the Geomatics as its development trend and a bright development feature will open up.
